Upcoming Projects & Events

In addition to EBA's day-to-day efforts to improve and revitalize the East
of Broad District, the organization is developing a series of strategic
long-term initiatives to address its primary goals of improving the quality
of life and encouraging the economic revitalization of East of Broad's target
area:
Marketing East of Broad
During the last
year EBA launched a major marketing initiative to advertise the many
improvements taking place in the District. It is also a great way to showcase
our member businesses and institutions.
The EBA
Newsletter—available electronically and sent to businesses, tourism
venues, marketing professionals and city officials—is a great vehicle
to promote East of Broad.
The newsletter,
which we are planning to issue on a monthly basis, will also be available in
print form and will be distributed to hotels, apartment buildings and various
public venues in Center
City.
All together, we
are getting the word out on what a terrific place East of Broad is to work,
live, visit, and enjoy!
A Community Mural Program
In 1999 we launched the "EBA Mural Arts Project--Public Art for
Community Spaces." The project identified several promising mural sites
within the East of Broad District and sought funding from businesses,
individuals and foundations.
We also developed a series of themes that address the rich
history and heritage of the District with the idea that a mural will not only
improve the physical appearance of the neighborhood but also foster a sense
of community solidarity and improvement.
Now, in 2007, with the funds in hand we are ready to bring
this extraordinary civic project to reality!
In the next few months we will begin work with the mural
scheduled for completion in late summer 2007. To find out how your can
contribute to the mural or to find out more information on the EBA Mural Project, call the EBA
offices at (215)893-1260 or e-mail us at rmadway@ebaphila.org.

Informational Sessions
Over the last decade East of Broad Improvement Association has hosted a
series of informational sessions and seminars on issues central to EBA's
mission. One of those critical issues is zoning. These included seminars
featuring zoning officials, zoning attorneys and community activists.
In the future EBA is considering expanding the seminar program to include
other topics of interest to the East of Broad community. Possible topics may
include:
- Procedures for
obtaining a sign permit
- Zoning and licensing
issues associated with opening up a new business or expanding an
existing business
- Necessary permits and
procedures when doing residential renovation work
To make suggestions about topics for future sessions, contact the EBA
offices at (215) 893-1260 or e-mail us at rmadway@ebaphila.org.
Enhancements to the EBA Web Site
The EBA Web Site not only serves as a kind of electronic newsletter and
informational forum but also acts as a platform to disseminate ideas and
plans for community improvement East of Broad. In a continuing effort to
improve communication within East of Broad and between us and the larger
community, EBA will be making ongoing improvements to our web site.
We are also planning a detailed Interactive Map of East of Broad,
as an enhancement to the East of Broad Map
currently available on the web site. It will include photographs of important
sites, information about cultural attractions, hotels, restaurants, theaters
and other prominent places and services in the East of Broad District.
For more information about the EBA Web Site, or to make suggestions or
comments about future enhancements, contact the EBA offices at (215) 893-1260
or e-mail us at rmadway@ebaphila.org.
